Surprisingly enough, not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Saturday, U.S. soldiers found the former leader of Iraq hiding in a hole in the ground about 6-8 feet deep. Saddam was captured about nine miles from his hometown of Tikrit and across the Tigris River from one of his lavish palaces.
Saddam had a pistol but was taken into custody without firing it.
It’s going to be…interesting to see what kind of spin people start putting on the events that will unfold from here.
Already spinning like crazy, but I think it’s great we finally got him. Now who was that other guy we were trying to catch…?
It was fun to watch the mistakes morphing into something that slightly resembled truth as the story was developed on television. My favorite was when an anouncer said they were going to show Dean’s statement the morning of and instead Prime Minister Tony Blair. hehe Needless to say, the announcer was embarrassed and commented that probably neither appreciated the comparison.
