Yes, a lot of stuff will go away from the sidebar, including the vast majority of the buttons (I'll probably keep RSS links and the "Add to My Yahoo"). The "recent comments" will probably change slightly to highlight "most recently commented posts" rather than the comments themselves.

my 2 cents on your sidebar. Archives should all be in an archive link; there is a great wordpress archive.php floating around somewhere that is super easy to use. 'Recent Comments' should be gone. :) But I think that the most 'popular posts' is a great idea. Buttons? Gone. I don't know why but I always thought of those as tacky even though I have used them in the past. Everyone has them, get rid of them. Do you need the calendar?

That's a start! Just my 2 cents, i'd give you more but I can't afford it. By the way, I like your site, found it over at wordpress of course.

Not really. In my case, some of my sub-pages are using dynamic PHP. Plus, the pages support has been in pretty heavy flux up until recently. But it looks like Ryan is approaching the final stages, now. I'll get my static pages converted over at some point.

My website directory is a total mess. I've got tons of files from leftover experiements and backups of older pages lingering around from my past 10 years of web tinkering. So converting some of my static files into the control of WordPress will give me a good excuse to clean things up.

Have you played with the new pages functionality yet? I'm redoing my entire site in it.
