Why is it that I upgrade to a version, and the next day, a new version pops up outta nowhere - this time I waited a while after 2.1 was released, to no good.

I found out the other day that if you get your WP via the SVN stable trunk, you can get the next version a couple days before the announcement.

I botched my install about a week ago, and as it takes only six strokes of the keyboard to get a fresh install, I figured "what the heck."
svn up

When logging into the control panel to check if everything was functioning correctly, I noticed "v2.1.1--RC1" in the footer.

That was kind of scary at first, but it worked out okay. A couple days later I
svn up
'd again and lo-and-behold I had v2.1.1, two days before the release announcement. So there you go.
