One of my sisters is now living in Ozark - just 10 minutes from Enterprise. Oddly enough, my wife and I had already planned to visit on the 2nd, and then the tornadoes hit. Thankfully Ozark was safe, but we took a tour of Enterprise to see some of the damage.

It's bad enough having to worry about my sister and her husband down there, I can't imagine watching so much of your life be destroyed so quickly and randomly.

I immediately thought of you, and the Boll Weevil monument, when I heard the news. I'm glad you and your family are doing well.

I lived in Huntsville in 1989 when tornados tore up the town. But the tornado skipped my school and destroyed the one down the road. I've never seen clouds that dark since.

Imagine you find out about your home town, high school, and old church getting destroyed from Google News, the day after it happened.

Imagine calling your dad (who lives 20 miles from where the tornado touched down) after you stop sobbing, and hearing him say "It's about time you called. Your sister, brother-in-law, and brother already called me yesterday."

Imagine wondering why no one in your family called you.

I would have been sheltering in either the Band Room or Third Hall during a tornado as an EHS student.

We were all there last summer for the reunion, taking pride in a great little high school and its new Science Wing, touring familiar places we never suspected we were revisiting for the very last time.

I'm not sure I miss that smelly blue carpet in the Band Room, though.

I've been thinking about ya, Dougal. I had the same thing happen to my alma mater a couple years ago---blew out the windows in my old dorm, demolished the gym where I walked across the stage to graduate. It'll shake you bad.
