I’ve pulled the trigger on the first stage of my site re-theme.
Right now, it’s still a pretty clean slate. I’ve switched over to the Thematic theme (actually a child theme using Thematic as its template), and done just a few quick stylesheet fixes and personal plugin tweaks. Currently, there are still a few warts which I need to iron out (some sidebar styles on sub-pages that need fixing, and such).
More major style/branding changes will come later, but this “tabula rasa” state of things will help motivate me to continue making changes.
If you spot any obvious glitches, please feel free to point them out.

Looks good so far. I’ve been experimenting with the Thematic theme myself, so I’ll eagerly follow your progress here. The big ad bar at the top, any chance that’s a glitch?
The ads are in a transitional phase. I am probably going to experiment with different placements, sizes, etc, so the huge leaderboard ad might go away at some point. And I’ll probably end up rigging things so that those ads only appear to visitors who have never left comments before, so that community participants won’t see them.
Thematic looks too simple yet but it aways starts somewhere. I’m very curious in further modifications. I’ve been also thinking about our own site redesign for several months. I hope we’ll finally do this by the end of the year.
