Susan’s spookalicious Halloween theme
A few months ago, I mentioned that my wife Susan had gotten her blog up, complete with a pink theme. She’s been pretty busy lately, what with taking care of our three kids, working part-time, and taking graduate classes (whew!). [...]
All WordPress users are encouraged to upgrade to the newest release, WordPress 2.0.4. The new release contains several important security updates, so you are strongly advised to upgrade. In addition to the security enhancements, there are many other small bug fixes, as well.
What are you waiting for? Download WordPress 2.0.4 now!
I know, I know… I haven’t been very active on the blogging front lately. Once again I’ve been sucked into a swirling vortex of job and home projects, with little-to-no time for participating in blogdom. I’ve managed to keep up with most of the latest memes, and I’ve added a few new del.icio.us bookmarks, but there’s been no opportunity to develop any nifty code or write about the subject of the day.
I’ve got eight draft posts in my queue, and three of those are no longer timely, and so I’ll probably end up deleting them. [...]

A couple of buglets snuck by in the WordPress 2.0.3 release. There should be a version 2.0.4 release relatively soon. But in the meantime, check out the WordPress 2.0.3 Tuneup Plugin, by Mark Jaquith. . [...]
The wee hours of the morning saw the release of WordPress 2.0.3. This release fixes a few bugs that have been identified in the past three months, and it also adds some security enhancements.
If you would like a smaller upgrade package, Mark Jaquith has a zip file that contains just the changed files. It’s unofficial, but I’d trust Mark.
Also, if you don’t regularly check your WordPress Dashboard to see when new releases are available, you can also check the project status on Freshmeat.net. [...]

It’s been a long time coming, but my wife, Susan, finally has a WordPress blog. You can check it out at DigitalDivas.net. As you’ll see when you get there, It’s Pink! Susan spent a lot of time adapting some CSS techniques for her site, and I helped her turn her html code into a WP theme.
I’m sure she’ll be posting on a variety of topics, from web design and technology, to current events, to family matters. [...]

And now that I’ve helped out the rest of you who want to automatically generate posts from your del.icio.us bookmarks (with my daily post fixer plugin), I’m turning that feature off here. It was an interesting experiment, but I’ve decided that this isn’t how I want to present that information. Let’s examine the good and bad of the automatic link posts:
Pros
- Generates more content for the blog
- Provides additional exposure for the pages that you bookmark
- Creates a local backup of your del.icio.us bookmarks
Cons
- Lists of links are not as interesting as original content written by the blog author
- Clutters up the archives with lots of (potentially unrelated) links to external content
- Diverts focus to other sites instead of keeping readers at your own site
As a personal example, my wife has told me that she has been looking at my blog less since I started the automated posts. [...]

The previous post was the first on this site that was auto-generated by the del.icio.us “daily blog posting” feature. Geof has been doing this for a while, and I was already planning to do something like this on my own eventually, anyhow. But I hadn’t gotten a round tuit yet, and since I ran across a couple of links reminding me about this del.icio.us service yesterday, I decided to try it out. [...]
