This past Wednesday, I got to go see the Thrashers play the Bruins, courtesy of a visit from Geof Morris (thanks for the ticket, Geof!). Geof and I have known each other via the net for quite a while, and we have some friends in common from back when I used to live in Huntsville. But I’m pretty sure that this was the first time we had met in person. So, I finally got to check the ‘met’ box in my link to his site (well, one of his sites).
Geof was rooting for the Bruins, but surprisingly enough, the Thrashers won the game 4-1. [...]
A couple of years ago, when we moved to the Atlanta area, I was working as a contractor doing some web programming on a project that I couldn’t say much about, because I had signed an NDA. But now I can talk, because the product is officially released (actually, I suppose I could have talked about it back when it was in beta). That product is ViaList.
ViaList is software that helps your club, group, committee, or family stay organized and up-to-date. [...]
Our group’s management has told us before that if there is any kind of work-related training we’d like to take or conferences we’d like to attend, to let them know. So when An Event Apart Atlanta was announced in January, I put in a request the same day. . [...]

We had looked at a couple of different places, looking for some good deals, and trying to decide if we might want to get some “naked” dressers and do the stain and finish ourselves. We found some good prices last week at a store that was going out of business, but we wanted to check out a couple more places this weekend.
Fairly recently, an Ikea store opened in Atlanta. [...]

I have a lot of family in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. Fortunately, my closest relatives — my mother, father, step-father, grandmother, plus some aunts, uncles, and first cousins — were not in the most heavily affected areas. Granny was visiting one of my aunts in New York. Her flight home was canceled twice, so she returned on Wednesday instead of Monday, but at least she has a home to return to. My mom rode things out at her house in Fairhope, with not much worse than power outages and downed tree limbs. [...]

Don’t forget: Talk Like a Pirate Day is only about six weeks away. I’m going to get a customized golf shirt made for the occassion. It’s pretty convenient to have in-laws who own an embroidery business.
