WordPress Webhooks Plugin

Check out this demo video of a new plugin by mitcho, called HookPress. HookPress adds the ability to use webhooks as WordPress actions and filters. Since webhooks run from a web server (not directly inside WordPress), this means that you could, for example, use scripts in python, perl, ruby, or whatever to extend WordPress. How’s that for nifty? And what’s extra nice is that the user interface for it on the WordPress side looks super simple to use.

Plugin: WriteScroll

A couple of weeks ago, Les Orchard tweeted a complaint about the WordPress editor:

wordpress annoyance: textarea for editing a blog post doesn’t start until more than 1/2 way down my screen. Too much nav; always scrolling.

I figured that was a problem easily solved, so while I was eating my lunch that day, I whipped up a mini-plugin to help out. The WriteScroll plugin checks to see if you are on one of the main editing pages, and if so, it injects a bit of javascript into the page which automatically scrolls the browser down so that the editor’s container is at the top of the browser window. WordPress 2.3 Beta 1

As announced on the dev blog, WordPress 2.3 Beta 1 is now available for download and testing. Some of the features of 2.3 include automatic notification for plugin and core code version updates, built-in tags support, faster javascript, and SEO-friendly URL redirection.

The new tag system includes an importer for those using the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin, and importers for a couple of other popular plugins are in the works. [...]
