Whoops! I made a change to my template code yesterday and broke the site without realizing it. I thought I had verified that the code was working, but I must have pulled the page from my cache. It’s back now (duh, as you can see)…

Round up

I was going to post several small items yesterday, to make up for the lull in activity, but my server was down for the better part of the day. When the other admin finally got it rebooted, some of the database tables had some minor corruption, so if you visited late yesterday you might have seen some warning messages. I was able to run some repairs, and everything seems to be happy again, now.

I already run automated backups of all my database tables, which get mailed to an external email account. And there is also an automated backup of the rest of the system, run by the hosting company, but I don’t have direct access to those. [...]

FeedLounge 1.0a2

The FeedLounge team updated the server with some new code today. They’ve fixed several bugs, and added some new features. I found some bugs in the new version, but it looks like they will be fixing them up pretty soon. With those items fixed, it shouldn’t be much longer before it can graduate up to ‘beta’ status (IMHO).

Reinvigorate me

In less than 90 minutes, reinvigorate.net will start accepting signups for the closed beta soft re-launch of their web site stats system. On the one hand, I don’t obsess too much over my stats. But I do like keeping a finger on the pulse of my site. I want to know if my readership is waxing or waning. I want to know what my most popular posts are. I want to know where my hits are coming from.

So, I’ve used a couple of different stats packages over the last few years. I have analog installed on my web server, and I have a cron job that updates stats for several of my sites, daily. [...]
