We finally found time to do some more work on Ping-O-Matic, and have implemented an XML-RPC interface. You can now send a standard weblogs.com compatible ping to http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ and we will ping a subset of our services. Currently, this is a fixed subset of seven services:
- Weblogs.com
- Blo.gs
- Technorati
- MyYahoo!
- BlogRolling
- BlogChatter
- PubSub
In the future, we will have ways for you to customize which services you would like us to ping on your behalf. [...]

I found some more fodder for my Blog Service Pinger:
I just ran across Neil’s Pinging service rundown, which in turn links to an article about pinging on UtterlyBoring.
There are a couple of ping services mentioned there that I will be adding. . [...]

Some spammer out there is doing a joe job on my domain, and I’ve been getting a steady trickle of email bounces from servers at AOL and Yahoo. If somebody out there who has more time than I do wants to examine the bounces to try to figure out where complaints should be directed, I’ll keep a live archive online for your analysis. First off, I’ve added GeoURL to the list of services in my Service Pinger. It’s not an XML-RPC service, so I might rename the page to make it more general.
And second, the Ping Services are now available on the front page of The Blog Hunter, a weblog portal site which is sort of like Yahoo for blogs.

However, it does bring to mind a prediction that I made years ago, back when shows like Cops and America’s Most Wanted were the television soup du jour. [...]

Man kills friend for drinking last beer. These are the kind of rednecks that give rednecks a bad name.
“There was only two beers left, so I took one, and I told Willie not to take my last beer.”
At least it happed in Texas, and not here in Alabama. . [...]

Rumor has it that AOL might buy Red Hat. Most of the speculation I’ve read assumes that AOL is looking for some way to reduce their dependence on Microsoft. That’s probably true. But I wonder what they have in mind…. . [...]
