I was born with webbed feet, my second and third toes on each foot. My right is much more noticeable. I had surgery 6/5 to have this corrected by my podiatrist. The first week was excruciating. I am starting to regret my decision....I am hopeing someone whom had this done can give me feedback and possible reassurance.
I am available for any questions any one curious about the surgery has. I wish I found this site prior to my surgery.

I hope it all turned out okay, i had mine seperated on my left foot..2nd and 3rd, a week ago today and haven't seen the results yet as they bandaged it up before i woke from surgery. I still think it's the best thing i have done. The physical pain is nothing compared to the years of torment, bullying and paranoia! I really hope you don't regret your choice. Let me know how you're feeling about it now x

i saw my new toes today!!!!!!!!!!!
it was sooo wierd after 18yrs they are apart!!
of course still swollen... and basically not vry nice to look at!
the pain is nothing compared to the first week. bit tender but that is all
still unable to walk. doctors giving it anothr week / week and half!
-paranoid! so happy someone else is going through this nearly at the same time as me!

I had full(complex) webbing.
The toes are still not healed completly and i believe it will be another month until they are fully healed!
Believe me i cannot wait until it is but i will admit it is sore!
Dont worry though i hope your surgery goes okay an make sure to write back !!!!!

HEY TODAY IS BEEN 2 DAYS SINCE MY SURGERY AND THE FAIN IS FREAKING KILLING ME I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BE THIS BAD IM SCARED THAT IT WILL NEVER GO AWAY! ITS ON MY LEFT FOOT 2ND & 3RD TOES THEY WERE STUCK ALL THE WAY UP TO THE NAIL THEY TOOK SKIN GRAFT FROM MY GROIN. THANK GOD WHERE THEY TOOK THE SKIN GRAFTING FROM IS NOT HURTING. I HAD IT DONE WITH LOCAL ANESTHESIA SO I GOT TO SEE THEM AFTER THE SURGERY WAS DONE I WAS LIKE WOW!! I HAVE NORMAL TOES. THEY GAVE ME PAIN KILLERS BUT THERE NOT DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB. I HAVE BEEN PRAYING TO GOD ALOT SO THIS CAN ALL TURN OUT OK. I HOPE THE PAIN GOES A WAY A BIT!!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR WRITING.

the first week is extremely sore!but i promise each week you will notice improvement!!!
my suregry 5 weeks tomorrow, and i had an appt at the hospital this week and have been told there is no need to return for another 4 weeks.
Toes are still tender and as i had fusion of bone the tips of them are still open so still have to bandage them.
i thought the graft was going to be alot sorer than it was which was a relief! :)but i still have a scar from it. large red yuck thing haha but im sure it will go eventually!
I hope i can be a little bit of support for you. i know how your feeling!

Didn't realise soo many people where getting this done, hopeandstrength how are yours looking, we had it done pretty much exactly the same time? it's been 5 weeks for me on tues. My toes still look funny and have gone a funny colour...i hope that's normal? The nurses are clueless about it and im not seeing my consultant again until february!
I drove for the first time since the op today aswell, i can't believe it! It did hurt but it was bearable :D
Meilin1728, don't worry it will get better, my first few days were pretty horrible and i cried alot for no reason but i couldn't be happier now, i even keep forgetting about it and try doing things i can't. I'm glad my op wasn't under a local tho, i don't think i would of been able to stay awake n watch them do it :S, you must of had guts!
Hope you guys are okay and i'm not the only one going through this! x

ya its pretty cool we had it done around the same time!! they aren't very pretty now and still are quite scabby .... icky but not painful anymore! mine as i have said were fully webbed all the way up so the bone had to be broken and what not! all i have to do now is wait for the area where the bone was fused to heal. all inside the toes where the graft was placed are 'robust' as my doctor told me!!
ya i found i burst into tears so often them first few days too. i couldn sleep or anything for first two weeks as it was very uncomfortable.
local anas.!?!?!:O i couldn have done it. i was so frightened having it done i wanted to be passed out!haha
so happy i have it done now. i had mixed emotions for the past few weeks but the 1 thing thats really bugging me though.... no high shoes for another while

ABOUT THE ANESTHESIA IT WAS LOCAL BUT I CLOSED MY EYES AND THEY PUT LIKE SHEETS IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE I TOLD THEM I DID NOT WANT TO WATCH I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY PASSED OUT IF I WOULD HAVE WATCHED. I CANT WAIT TILL IM ALL BETTER SO I CAN WALLKKK IM IN CRUTCHES!!.

Heya, i'm glad it's all alright for you now Meilin1728. From what i can see in the pic's they look great. I've got some pics on my phone that i took last week and just trying to work out how to get them online! The skin graft is all black and skabby and i've had friends nearly throw up when i showed them lol, i had the bandages changed again today and i can definately see an improvement and it's just such a releif to see them apart.
Where are you guys from and where did you have the op? I had mine done at Odstock Salisbury hospital in south england.
I've been walking without my crutches now for 2 days too!! Feel like an idiot limping around town and get funny looks but atleast i have my hands free!!
Hopeandstrength i know how you feel about not being able to wear high heels! I never thought i'd miss them, i'm going on a night out on sat for the first time since and i've gotta wear giant pug boots that are 3 sizes too big :(

Meilin- Wow ur toes look great!! hehe its funny because mine look sorta similar after 3 weeks lol. hope the recovery is goin good though! o yes i remember when i first went to remover bandages i cried too. i was so excited before i went in and then they took the badnages off and there was NO perfect toes there... but now 5 weeks later i can nearly see my new toes :)
Paranoid- thats great your off your crutches! such a weight relieved off you haha. o yes well i went out during the week with high shoes! :) i am a size 4 but borrwoed a size 5 off my friend, so my toes were not squished!. i also brought a pair of flats in my handbag when ever they got sore just slip them on. it was fine! i know how you feel though i could only wear UGGs before this :( i had my surgery done in dublin , IRL. what was your doc like?

when i got my stitches out the nurse took them out. it was only reeeeallly tickly not sore at all. i think you will be fine! my toes are okay now still rally scabby but im so glad they've healed an the skin graft has taken!!

Heya, you 2 sound like you're getting on great :D I finally have my bandages off today, just gotta keep putting vaseline inbetween my toes now. Gonna attempt the heels next week i think! My surgeon was Mr S Masood, he's done a fab job! They're looking pretty good already! I hope the stitches went okay Meilin, i had dissolvable stitches so didn't have to worry about that! You're lucky to have a bf to carry you about lol, i never got special treatment like that..im jealous!

thats great u have ur bandages off too are they still sore?? mine are okay but still the slightest bit tender.
I had the dissolvable stitches too in between my toes and normal ones on the top of mt toes! there were WIERD thought! LOL but im glad i hadnt normal ones in the middle :)

Can't get on msn, but i use that e-mail alot. Yer toes are still sore mostly around the bottom of them. Not walking normally yet, still limping and feel like an idiot lol, getting there though! How are you doing with all that? It seems to take forever to get back to normal!! Got my work's christmas party on saturday so wanna be walking better then and wearing nice shoes!
You sound like your's are healing up really well. Did you get to see your surgeon or anyone who knew about it much after? I got to see my surgeon once i'd woken up from my op and that was it, don't see him till feb now, and the nurses at the doc's where i go don't seem to have a clue what they're doing and each one i see seems to say different stuff, one says dry it out, the other says put vaseline on it twice a day, another says bath it in water twice a week and another just covers it up..i dunno what's best to do!? xxxxx

Heya, your toes look like they're healing really well Meilin! Mine are still swollen n look skanky but slowly getting better and its nearly been 8 weeks! I've still got the 2 tiny little bandages like you have but don't have to go back to the docs anymore and can change them myself everyday. I take them off when i'm at home to get some air to it. I had the big bandage taken off after 6 weeks, how long has it been since your op?
Walking's alright, i still limp a bit but for some reason i wore out heeled boots last night and my limp was completely gone, my foot just really hurts now,,bad mistake i think!? Good luck with it all, i hope your recovery is quicker than mine. Really wish i could show you a pic of mine but my camera's broken and i can't connect my phone to the comp.

Im so very happy i have found this website. I am not a patient, but a Surgeon. Its absolutely intriguing to hear what you guys have to say. In fact i am performing a desyndactylization in the next few days on myone of mt patients. I am curious from you guys which procedures were performed and how satisfied you are. In the medical/surgical literature there is scant long term data to indicate level of satisfaction. If you would be willing to post the type of procedure ie: desyndactylization of the webbing with coverage by skin graft or Rotational flap within the foot and how happy you are between 1 and 10 (one being least satisfied, 10 being most satisfied) and why I would greatly appreciate it.

hi people hope u all are doing good and the toes are healing well! i have had mine unbandaged now for about 2 weeks now open in shoes an what not and they still arent looking the best but i guess time will heal them more!
i am still so happy to have had the surgery hope u both meilin and paranoid are doing well!

Heya glad to hear you're doing so well hopenstrength! I'm trying to get to normal but where i've been walking funny to avoid walking on my toes i've now done some damage to my ankle :S. It's my own fault though, im just to scared of walking properly i guess!! I'll get there one day i guess. On the plus side, they are looking more and more normal everyday, you can obviously still see the scar but the colour of it is much more natural now and you can't even see it from the bottom!
Annonymous surgeon, i had a skin graft taken from my groin to put between my toes and it was sewn in a zig-zag way. On a scale of 1-10 i'd say i was about 8 right now, only because i now have a scar on my groin that's red and ugly and it's taking it's time while to heal. Apart from that i'm very happy with the result and definately wouldn't go back and change my mind if i could.
Hope you guys had a good christmas!! I got my first pair of nice shoes as a pressie, just can't wait till i can wear them now! Take care, speak soon xxxxx

WELL I HAD SKIN GRAFT REMOVED FROM MY GROIN, AND THE STICTCHES FROM MY GROIN ARE ON THE INSIDE SO I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PAIN OR ANYTHING THERE. ITS STILL A RED SCAR BUT I DONT REALLY MIND IT, THE REDNESS WILL GO AWAY SOONER OR LATER SO I GIVE THAT A 9. ITS BEEN 7 WEEKS SINCE MY SURGERY AND I CAN'T BE ANY HAPPIER I JUST STARTED THE WHOLE WALKING THING LAST WEEK, IM STILL LIMPING BUT ITS BETTER THAN USING CRUTCHES. I HAD FULL SYNDACTYLITY ON MY LEFT FOOT (were i got the surgery) SO ITS WEIRD LOOKING AT NORMAL TOES!! IM HAPPY I GOT THE SURGERY I FEEL MORE CONFIDENT AND BETTER KNOW. WELL W/B.

I'm so happy i found this website and know what i've let myself in for! My surgery is next week tuesday and i've never been so nervous about anything in my life! I think i had some crazy thought that i would have the surgery and within a week be driving and walking like normal again - how wrong was I?
The thing i'm most worried about is being put to sleep...how did you all find it? was it your first time too?
