Sarnik is a graphical role playing game written completely in cross-browser client-side DHTML. Impressive.

What the heck happened? I can’t find Sarnik anywhere! Not on Bonus.com, not searching for it, not anywhere. Does it just not exist?
Well, considering that I posted the link 4 years ago, it’s not too surprising that it’s not around anymore.
Yeah, it went down around August (or maybe October? I can’t remember) last year. Luckily for me, I’d downloaded it beforehand.
Oh no! It was free wasn’t it? If it was free, could you email it to me at dsmourad@yahoo.com?

If you still like to play it online, go here: http://www.greatplay.net/games/ and click on Sarnik.
This is Dave Lambert, author of Sarnik. I’m happy to read that people liked the game and are trying to find it even now. I decided to take the game offline a few years ago. After getting married and having kids, I didn’t have the free time anymore to maintain the game. IE’s popup blocker presented a big problem รขโฌโ I felt that a number of people wouldn’t want to allow the popup windows or would even know how to do it. I thought it would be best to pull it, rather than frustrate the target audience of kids.
Note – the version at previous post #20 (greatplay.net) isn’t my vision of the game. If you want the final version that was posted at my web site, please email me at dplambert@excite.com. Thanks for playing.
Hi Dave, thanks for updating us on the disappearance of Sarnik. Since the original URL is no good anymore, I’d be happy to update with a new link, if there’s some place you’d like me to direct the traffic?
Sarnik is an awesome game… I was wondering where it went to! I remember being directed to the website of the author/creator of the game, David Lambert, and getting access to it there. I’ll be e-mailing him (post 21) to get it again! Thanks for posting!
Right now, I have no web presence. Would you like to host it?
I’d love to be able to, but my server is a little under-powered as it is, and I’m afraid it would melt down under the additional load.
If that changes, though, I’ll let you know.
I have a remake of David Lambert’s great game at my website.

can someone mail this to me at sillyguyzz@gmail.com? i really love that game.
Hello, this is Dave Lambert. A major bug was brought to my attention a few days ago, and I want to report the workaround here. I remember another bug from a few years back, and I’ll talk about that too.
Bug #1
Able to skip battles
——————–
You’re about to start a battle. Some text is displayed with the “Continue” link in the narration area of the interface. Normally, you would click “Continue” to start the battle. But you can skip this if you save the game, and then load it. The “Continue” link disappears and the game acts like you’ve won the battle. No experience points are awarded and no loot is available from the battle.
Bug #2
Characters share the same purchased item
—————————————-
Multiple characters purchase the same ranged weapon from a store and equip it. During a battle, if one character fires the weapon, the ammo is reduced as expected. However, the ammo is also reduced for all other characters that have that weapon equipped. The problem is that when a character purchases an item, a reference to that item is placed in the character’s inventory – not a copy of that item. So in effect, characters share the same purchased item. I’m sure that this bug has other side effects beyond this, but there is an easy workaround. Immediately after shopping, save and load the game. The reload corrects the character inventories. I can’t believe that I missed this bug! If you’re the type of person to play the game in short intervals or save/load often, you’ve probably never noticed.
I’m not planning to patch these bugs, so let’s go with these workarounds. Thanks for playing.

Can someone snd me a Sarnik at Coolguy8071@hotmail.com? I’d appreciate it’s a great game! Thanks!
I would be more then happy to use my spare bandwidth to host the game. I have a cheasy godaddy server account, but I’m not really using any of the bandwidth so… drop me a line at binaryfusion@live.com and we can work out the details.
