That’s killer! Hell of an idea. Very useful too as prices at various gas stations here in Iowa range from between $1.85 and $1.97. I’m gonna be buyin cheap all the time now!

It looks like the account has been shut down. :( I think the news got out and his bandwidth went through the roof.

maybe because your site is so popular, the cheap gas site got too many visitors that made its page suspended :(

I doubt that it was my linkage that was the problem. I’m sure the site was getting much more traffic from linkage via the Make blog and the Unofficial Google Weblog.

Dougal, this post topped the BOTD BuzzList almost as soon as you posted it and it has stayed on top all afternoon. Way to go!

Well, I do have the advantage of being in the Dashboard of a ton of WordPress users. I don’t think any of the other devs or other Planet Wordpress sources are using BOTD at the moment…

I heard about a website last night on the news that’s doing this. It’s the same company that did mapsexoffenders.com. You just put in your street address and it will tell you what the cheapest gas station in your area. Maybe it will make gas stations lower the gas price or help people save a buck or two. The website is http://www.mapgasprices.com.

How about cheap golf? We could combine the 2 and map out the locations? Would anyone be interested in that?
