I once suggested to the Slashdot guys that they should do something like this. They could mitigate the Slashdot Effect somewhat by seeding the distributed cache, then link to the cached version of a page. As far as I know, they haven’t done it, though.

Since I pick up your entries automatically in my Admin Dashboard under News, I find their ‘automatic titling’ absolutely excruciating! “A title is a Title is a Title” and signifies something, yes it has a meaning that tells someone what he might expect. I see no interest in “links for 2006-03-18″. Adopting such a system, for me, and with the greatest respect betrays either laziness, or lack of imagination or even interest in what others may think. I hope you retrieve your humanity because your posts are often very interesting.
