Eric Costello (of glish.com fame) has an excellent article on Remote Scripting with IFRAME. This simplified method of client/server communication allows you to do some cool dynamic things on web sites, without the complexity of systems like XML-RPC or SOAP, or commercial alternatives like the KnowNow Event Router (which is pretty cool, too, if you aren’t the complete do-it-yourselfer).
Yet another reason to migrate to standards compliant [X]HTML. When newer browsers are in strict mode, images in tables don’t always line up the way you expect them to. This isn’t due to any bugs in the new browers. Quite the contrary. It’s because they are correctly implementing the specifications for how to render images in relation to text (even if there’s no text around them).
The picture 2 HTML converter by Patrik Roos is pretty darned nifty. He’s also got a PIC2ASCII converter. Scientists believe they have discovered a new type of stem cell which exists in adults. If the continuing research proves that these cells can differentiate into working cells of other types, it could eliminate the need for controversial embryonic stem cell research.
