I’ve seen this linked from a few other sites already, but it’s a pet topic of mine, so I’ll link to it as well. Check out the Design Rant by Owen Riggs. It’s a well-spoken essay about that oft-seen idea of “separation of style and content”.
Design Rant

Design Rant is an absolute must read. Valuable content indeed. What seemed odd to me was that for my old eyes to focus on Owen Riggs’ article about CSS I had to turn stylesheets off in my browser.
In his stylesheet Owen Riggs sets his primary container (body) type to font-size: 69%. My browsers default to 14pt type because that’s what I find comfortable. 69% makes everything on my screen 9pt to 10pt. In fact, almost every WordPress and b2evolution website I come across are unreadable to me. I close the window and cruise on.
If webmasters size type to 9 points because they’re afraid folks won’t scroll, or because they don’t want us to miss their whole design, they should get Zen.
