There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but I noticed that SVN was tagged with WordPress 2.7.1-beta1 the other day. Though there have been many patches in the 2.7 branch since the last release, most of what I’ve seen appears to be pretty minor bugfixes (though one patch jumps out at me). You can peruse the list of changes since 2.7 yourself.
I’m sure it won’t be too long before we hear something more official.

Well, I haven’t even upgraded my little ole blog to 2.7, I guess I should be doing something. Thanks for the heads up!
Been waiting on this release to upgrade from 2.6.x, seems like this one took much longer than usual to come out, whether that’s a good or bad thing, I’m not sure. I’ve gotten into the habit of waiting for the dot releases to come out on new versions before updating. Looks like 2.8 is on the roadmap for March 9th, so they’ll need to get this one out soon or I may just skip 2.7 and go straight to 2.8.
HI… all in due time. I think the progress made with WP over the last few years has been great. I appreciate all that is done behind the scenes to keep WP progressive. Thanks everyone involved.
